Authentic Advent trail on Katschberg
Discover the magic of the Katschberg Advent Trail! In the midst of snow-covered mountain landscapes, you can experience an authentic Advent adventure far away from kitsch and commercialism during a winter holiday in the Austrian Alps. Follow the path from one rustic hay barn to the next, accompanied by alpine horns and brass bands that will enchant you with Christmas music.
Immerse yourself in the world of Advent songs in the singing hut, listen to the contemplative stories in the story hut and watch the shining eyes of children as they make teddy bears with angels. This magical pre-Christmas period is illuminated by numerous lanterns along the way, which together with the soft light in the snow create a warm atmosphere.
A time of brilliance and warmth
A 2.5 km winter hike takes you along the Wichtelweg from the Alpengasthof Bacher on the Katschberghöhe to the Pritzhütte, the starting point of the Advent Trail. The trail offers free tea stations, a Christmas labyrinth and an enchanting forest of lights. You can cover the distance to the Pritzhütte either on foot or by a horse-drawn sleigh from Gasthof Bacher.
The subsequent hike along the Katschberg Advent Trail is only possible on foot. A high-quality thermal mug makes it possible to enjoy freshly brewed tea at the wood-burning stoves along the way. These mugs are available at the start of the Advent Trail, at the Souvenir & Craft Hut and at the Katschberg tourist office.

The Katschberg Advent Trail takes place from November 29 to December 25, 2024, every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as well as on Thursday, December 05 and 12, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Please note that the trail will be closed on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2024.
ADMISSION:
- Admission to the Advent Trail is in cash only.
- New purchase of the mug INCLUDING admission & free tea along the stations on the Advent Trail: € 25,-
- Admission with already purchased mugs from previous years (incl. tea) OR admission without thermal mug: € 20,-
- Free admission for children under 12 years.
